Street Netball Carnival 2007
Fixtures *We are playing with a double knockout system. In short: -There is a “winner’s pool” and a “loser’s pool”. Everyone starts in the Winner’s pool. -If you win, you keep proceeding on to the next round till eventually there is a winner of the Winner’s Pool. -If you lose once, you will drop to the Loser’s Pool. If you keep winning, you will become the winner of the Loser’s Pool. If you lose in the Loser’s pool, you are out of the carnival. -The winners of the winner’s and loser’s pools play against each other to compete for the top 3 places.
*When reading the fixtures, the court and timing of the game is inside the bracket. The court you are playing in is on the left, and timing on the right. *Court A & B are in the hall *Court 1 & 2 are the outdoor netball courts *Court and timing indications in BLACK will be played on Tues, 6th Feb. *Court and timing indications in RED will be played on Thurs, 8th Feb. *After each game, please check the fixtures board outside the hall for your next game timing and location.
Rules of the Streets 1)4 players on court at anyone time 2)Maximum of 2 males on court 3)Only 2 netballers and/or basketballers in a team 4)7 minutes per game 5)Game boundary: Half a netball court 6)Substitutions can be made anytime 7)Netball rules apply i.e. i)Only 2 people from each team in the goal circle at any one time. ii)No running with the ball iii)Cannot snatch the ball from another player iv)No body contact with the player holding the ball such that you interfere his/her play v)Maintain a radius of 3 feet around the player with the ball vi)Over a third: Passes cannot be made further than one third of the court. vii)When there is a change of possession, players must bring the ball pass the transverse line before attacking again viii)Teams alternate to take the centre pass. A centre pass is taken to start the ball after every point is scored. ix)You will be out of play if you are called for a foul. Stand where the foul was committed. Rejoin the play once the free pass/shot is taken x)THE UMPIRE’S CALL IS FINAL 8)In the case of a draw after 7 minutes, team that scores the FIRST 2 goals wins. Not to worry if you don’t understand any of the rules, they will be explained to you again before the game begins.
Others *Please report 15 minutes before your scheduled timeslot. If you have any problems with the timings of the games please let the organisers (netballers) know. *Turning up for a game more than 3 minutes late will be considered a walkover. *Please take care of your own valuables. The organisers will not be responsible for any lost items. *There will be 4 yellow netballs at each location for you to use for warm-up. Please make sure you return it to the scorer’s table after use. *Participants are to responsible for their own health. Please make sure you warm-up before the game and drink a lot of water! *A first-aid kit will be available at the Games Official Table outside the hall.
